Other Treats
Other terrific and healthy treats are cut-up or baby raw carrots, commercial kibble, dried fruit, raisins, boiled chicken, turkey hot dogs and bits of cheese. Competitive trainers often buy cheese and meat snacks from the grocery store and pull off very small bits to reward the dogs as they are training.
Training treats should be very small, something your pup can gulp down quickly; chewing slows down the learning process.
Another competitor's tip: start off with a base reward, kibble or kibble like commercial treat, then up the ante with chicken or cheese or meat snacks as the pups interest start to wane.
